Government of Nepal is now going to take ownership of the Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium

The Government of Nepal is now going to take ownership of the Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium and complete the rest of the construction.

According to the news published in Kantipur Online, a minister said that this decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Monday. The stadium to be built by Dhurmas Suntali Foundation in Chitwan has been stalled for a few years due to lack of funds.

Nepal’s actors Sitaram Kattel and Kunjana Ghimire got the Bharatpur Municipal Corporation to stop the construction of the stadium by saying that they could not repay the loan of 18 crores taken during the construction of the stadium.

A few weeks ago, the founder of the foundation, Kattel, demanded that the government take over the ownership of the stadium. With the decision of the Council of Ministers on Monday, the construction work of the stopped cricket stadium in Chitwan will go ahead.

As of now, the first phase of the parapet of the stadium is said to have been completed. The construction was halted while the parapet work was underway with a capacity of 3,000 spectators. And 8 pitch and other work is yet to be done in it. Kattel, on behalf of the foundation, said that so far they have worked on the loan and out of the 54 crores spent, about 16 crores have been borrowed.

Kattell said that he had to stop work because he had to spend a large sum of money at one go, saying that he could not afford it.
