Nepal’s boxer Chhiring Wangdi Sherpa will face Kazakhstan in the semifinals of the Asian Junior and Youth Men’s / Women’s Boxing Championship.
He has made history by reaching the last four and has secured at least a bronze medal. He will be the first for Nepal to win a medal in the Asian Junior. On the women’s side, at least two bronze medals were secured after the other two players reached the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals of the under-weight 54 kg weight category of the competition in the UAE, Chiring will play against Adaibek Niyazbaye of Kazakhstan.
In Sunday’s match, Chhiring defeated Kuwait’s national champion Mohammad Alleneji Mohammad by points. Kadibek defeated Mohammed of Syria in the quarterfinals on the basis of Referee Stop the Contest (RSC).
The next semifinal of the same weight group will be between Ashish of India and Norkosinov Mironsokh of Uzbekistan. Minonsokh defeated Hilal Mohammed of the UAE and Ashish defeated Rahmanov Zafar of Tajikistan by points.
