The Kathmandu District Court has sentenced the cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to 8 years in prison, who was found guilty in the extortion case. The bench of Judge Shishirraj Dhakal also ordered that he should pay compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim.

On January 29th, the district court of Kathmandu convicted cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane in the rape case. According to the law, the date of January 10 was set for a separate court to determine the punishment for the crime punishable by imprisonment of more than three years.

He has determined that Gaushala 26 (victim’s name changed) was an adult at the time of the incident. After determining the sentence, the district court will now prepare the full details of the verdict. If the parties are not satisfied, they can appeal to the High Court.

The victim Gaushala 26 filed a complaint saying that after Sandeep returned from Nagarkot, he stayed in a hotel in Sinamangal and raped her during that time.
