The Nepali U-23 national football team will play in the AFC U-23 (Under Twenty-three) Asian Cup qualifiers . Nepali U-23 national football team is leaving for Tajikistan on Tuesday.
Manish Dangi, Suman Aryal and Ayush Ghalan have been included in the team. Chief coach Bal Gopal Maharjan has announced a 23-member Nepali team. Nepal is playing with the team that is above Nepal in the FIFA rankings. The team now has a majority of young players and some experienced players from the national team.
Coach Bal Gopal Maharjan said that despite the short preparation, the Nepali team will play with a strong team for good results. Coach Bal Gopal Maharjan said, Nepali team goalkeeper Aparna Karki responded that he would play against a strong country for a good result as he is passionate about young players. Similarly, young striker Abhishek Rijal said that he will play against a strong team by giving 100 percent.
Nepal is in Group B in qualifiers . Nepal’s group includes Tajikistan, Lebanon and Iran. The qualifiers in Tajikistan will take place from October 23 to 31. Nepal will play Iran in the first match of the group stage on October 25.
The second match will be played on October 28 against Tajikistan and the last match will be played on October 31 against Lebanon. The top teams from the Group 11 qualifying will get a chance to play in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup. Similarly, the best four teams from the second team will also be selected in the U-23 Asian Cup. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan from June 1 to 19, 2022.
