Nepal is close to the semifinals after defeating the Philippines by 136 runs. Chasing a huge target of 219 runs at the Al Amarat Stadium in Muscat, Oman, Nepal held the Philippines to 82 runs for the second consecutive victory in the group.
Adding four points from two games, Nepal has reached the top of the group.
Captain Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets to wrap up a weaker rival Philippines. He spent only 9 runs in 4 overs. Gulshan Jha, Jitendra Mukhiya, Avinash Bohora, Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee took 1/1 wickets each.
Kushal Bhurtel’s century and Dipendra’s half-century helped Nepal score 218 runs against the Philippines. He hit the first century of his T20 international career. He hit 13 fours and one six in 61 balls and played an innings of 104 *. Dipendra Singh Airee scored the highest score of his T20 career, hitting 63 off 47 balls with six fours and four sixes. Nepal scored 218 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the 20 overs after opener Kushal scored an unbeaten 104 runs. Opener Asif Sheikh was lbw out on the first ball while Kushal Malla scored 12 off 10 balls.
