Nepal’s leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane and England women’s captain Heather Knight have been named the winners of the ICC Player of the Month in September. Lamichhane defeated Bangladesh left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed and United States batsman Jaskaran Malhotra, who had excelled in September.
It was a great month for Lamichhane, who excelled in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. He played six ODIs in which he took 18 wickets at an average of 3.38. Sandeep’s two notable performances were against Papua New Guinea on 4/35 and 6/11. His other memorable performance was against Oman, in which he took 4 wickets for 18 runs.
England captain Heather Knight has been named Women’s Player of the Month, beating competition from Charlie Dean and Liezel Lee of South Africa. Knights were decisive in England’s one-day series win against New Zealand at home. She scored 214 runs at an average of 42.80 and took three wickets at an economy of 4.66.
