Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) said on Saturday that Nepal will play a four-nation T-20 series ahead of the ICC World T-20 Global Qualifiers. Nepal is going to play a four-nation series between Oman, UAE and Ireland.
The Group A matches of the Global Qualifiers for the World Cup to be held in Australia will be played in Oman in October and November.
In the first match of the series, Nepal will play on 11 February against Oman. After this, he has to play 12 February against UAE and 14 February against Ireland. All four teams are contenders for the Global Qualifiers.
Nepal won the tri-nation series in April last year involving the Netherlands and Malaysia. Nepal is now going to play the Twenty20 series after 10 months. It has been taken up as a preparatory game for the global qualifiers.
Pubudu Dasanayake with Nepal for the second time as coach
This is the first series since Pubudu Dasanayake took over as the head coach of the Nepalese team for the second time. Sandeep Lamichhane will also be tested as captain. CAN sacked Gyanendra Malla last month and appointed Sandeep as the captain.
Nepal’s team has a majority of young players for the Global Qualifiers. CAN announced the team on the basis of their good performance in the recently concluded Prime Minister’s Cup. In Group A of the Global Qualifiers, the teams are divided into two groups.
