In 2008, when the IPL (Indian Premier League) began, Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir played for the Rajasthan Royals in its inaugural season. During a match against the Chennai Super Kings, he delivered an extraordinary performance, taking 6 wickets for just 14 runs in 4 overs. This remarkable feat played a crucial role in Rajasthan Royals becoming the champions of the first IPL edition.

However, since then, Rajasthan has not won another IPL trophy.It took a decade for Tanvir’s record of 6 wickets in a single IPL match to be broken.

Sixteen years later, on December 2, 2024, the veteran Tanvir made his debut for the Chitwan Rhinos in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) at the TU International Cricket Ground. In his very first match, he took 5 wickets, becoming the first player in NPL history to achieve this milestone.In front of thousands of enthusiastic Nepali fans, Tanvir showcased his signature left-arm bowling skills.

On Monday, he claimed 5 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs against the Kathmandu Gorkhas. Struggling against his sharp bowling, Kathmandu managed to score only 111 runs. Chitwan comfortably chased the target, scoring 114 runs with 5 wickets in hand and 17 balls to spare.
