In a landmark moment for Nepali cricket, former South African captain and international cricket legend Faf du Plessis has signed with Biratnagar Kings for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2025. The arrival of the 41-year-old batting legend represents one of the most significant signings in the league’s history and is expected to bring unprecedented star power to the tournament, scheduled to be held from November 17 to December 13, 2025.
Du Plessis will don the Biratnagar Kings jersey alongside Nepal’s spin wizard captain Sandeep Lamichhane in the second edition of the Nepal Premier League. The tournament, featuring eight teams competing in 32 matches at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, has already attracted considerable attention.
Du Plessis brings an impressive pedigree to the NPL, having secured four Indian Premier League titles with the Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and 2021, and serving as captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2022 to 2024.
