Nepal Premier League 2025: Everything You Need to Know About NPL Season 2

After a successful first season in 2024, the Nepal Premier League (NPL) is back for its second edition — and it promises even more excitement, big international stars and competitive T20 cricket across Nepal.

Tournament Schedule & Format

The second season of the NPL will feature eight teams competing in 32 matches from 17 November to 13 December 2025. All the matches will be played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu.

Each team will face the others once in the league stage — after that, the top four teams will move to the playoffs. The playoff stage will include Qualifier 1 (top two teams), an Eliminator (teams 3 & 4), Qualifier 2, and then the Final on 13 December.

The Eight Teams

All eight franchises that played in the inaugural season are back for NPL 2025:

  • Janakpur Bolts (the defending champions)
  • Biratnagar Kings
  • Chitwan Rhinos
  • Sudurpaschim Royals
  • Kathmandu Gorkhas
  • Pokhara Avengers
  • Lumbini Lions
  • Karnali Yaks

Janakpur Bolts lifted the first title in 2024 when they chased down 185 in just 19.2 overs to beat Sudurpaschim Royals.

Star-Studded International Lineup

NPL 2025 is set to be bigger with some high-profile international players joining the tournament. These include names like:

Faf du Plessis (former South African captain) — Biratnagar Kings

Imran Tahir (South African leg-spinner)

Playing alongside Nepal’s best talent, these global stars will bring world-class cricket and help local players learn from them.
