The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday that Scotland will replace Bangladesh in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after Bangladesh withdrew from the tournament.

This decision was made after Bangladesh informed the ICC of its inability to participate in the tournament due to various reasons. To maintain the competitive balance and integrity of the event’s schedule, the ICC acted swiftly and invited Scotland, the next eligible team based on the qualification framework and recent performance.

Scotland’s inclusion is a significant achievement for this Associate nation, reflecting its consistent progress in international cricket and strong performances in recent ICC events.

The T20 World Cup 2026 will feature 20 top teams from around the world and will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February. It is expected to be one of the most commercially successful and competitive editions of the tournament. Scotland will play in Group C of the World Cup, replacing Bangladesh, alongside England, West Indies, Nepal, and Italy.
